Now that the model has taken shape, you can use the sculpt geometry tool to easily push and pull the geometry around, making it very easy to add extra details to your model.

This Maya video Tutorial looks at how to start a model, by first defining the basic shape, and adding detail from there. This 4 part tutorial will introduce you to some of the basics of creating a 3D model using polygons as a foundation. By creating an apple, you should be able to demonstrate competencies in blocking out a basic shape, adding details by creating new divisions and by using sculpting tools, while also combining separate objects to form one overall model.
